Who is responsible
The controller is Woningdataopvragen, established in Amsterdam (Chamber of Commerce (KvK) number 84320710). Privacy enquiries: info@woningdataopvragen.nl.
What we show
Woningdata combines public data about buildings, plots and their surroundings: address, year of construction, floor area, cadastral plot data, energy label, official announcements, subsurface data and neighbourhood statistics. The paid report adds sales data: whether the home is currently for sale (asking price, listed since and estate agent), previous purchase prices of the home as they appear in the public Land Registry (Kadaster), and comparable sales nearby in price ranges.
Data about other people's homes
Data about a home that are linked to an address (such as the year of construction, energy label or a permit) may say something about the people who live in or own the home. They may therefore constitute personal data, even though we do not mention any names.
- Legal basis: legitimate interest (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR (AVG)): buyers, tenants and residents want to be able to view public information about a home in a clear and accessible way. We confine ourselves to data that are already public: registers that the government makes public for reuse, and the public sale listing of a home that is currently for sale.
- Sources: official registers and open data, and sales data (Kadaster and Funda) that we receive under licence through Altum AI; see Data sources and licences. We do not collect anything from residents themselves and we do not scrape websites.
- Informing data subjects: informing residents individually is practically impossible and would in fact require additional data (Article 14(5)(b) GDPR); that is why we explain it here.
- Safeguards: address pages are not indexed by search engines, we do not use real homes as advertising examples and we do not show names or mortgages. Previous purchase prices of the home are shown only in the paid report, as they appear in the public Land Registry (Kadaster), without names of buyers or sellers.
- Objection: if you live in or own a home and object to how it is displayed, please email info@woningdataopvragen.nl. We assess every request and respond within one month.
What we deliberately do not show or collect
- Names of owners, residents, buyers or sellers, and mortgage data. (Previous purchase prices of the home itself are included in the paid report: they are public at the Land Registry.)
- Profiles of residents or households.
- Personal names of energy label assessors (the “certificate holder” field).
- Statistics on origin or migration background, and income data at an individual level.
Neighbourhood statistics from Statistics Netherlands (CBS) are aggregated, statistical averages and say nothing about individual residents.
Data of visitors and buyers
- Searching without an account: we store the requested address (BAG identifier) so that we can cache external sources. This is not linked to you as a person.
- Purchases: we place a functional, signed cookie (
wd_buyer) so that you retain access to your report on this device. We store which address you purchased, your email address, the amount, and which version of the terms and conditions you accepted and when. Legal basis: performance of the contract (Article 6(1)(b) GDPR) and our interest in being able to demonstrate that the contract was concluded (point (f)). - Payment: Stripe processes your payment details, partly as an independent controller (fraud prevention and its own legal obligations). We receive only the status, the amount and the email address.
- Email: used exclusively for delivery (access link, PDF link, payment receipt) and for questions about your purchase. No newsletters without separate consent.
- Newsletter: only if you tick the box for the newsletter and updates when checking out or signing up (unticked by default). Legal basis: consent (Article 6(1)(a) GDPR). You can unsubscribe at any time via the link in every newsletter or by emailing info@woningdataopvragen.nl; we then remove your address from the mailing list.
- Contact form: your name, email address and message reach us as an email and are used solely to answer your question. Legal basis: our interest in being able to answer questions (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR).
- Access links: when you open the link from the email, we link your purchase to the cookie on that device.
- Maps: the map and aerial photograph are retrieved directly by your browser from PDOK (Kadaster, the Dutch Land Registry); PDOK can see your IP address when this happens.
- Cookies: strictly necessary cookies only:
wd_buyer(access to purchases) andtheme(light or dark theme). No tracking or advertising cookies, and therefore no cookie banner. - Analytics: we count visits using Vercel Web Analytics and our own privacy-friendly visitor counter. Both work without cookies and without storing IP addresses. Our own counter recognises a visitor only within a single day, by a code that changes every day; we keep that data for no more than 13 months. Personal links (such as access and invoice links) are masked.
- Logs: technical logs without personal data; IP addresses are held only briefly in memory to prevent abuse.
Processors
We use processors for hosting, the database and sending email, and Stripe for payments. We conclude a data processing agreement with our processors. Where a service provider processes data outside the European Economic Area, this takes place on the basis of the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework or the European Commission's standard contractual clauses.
Requests to partners: if you request a building survey, energy label, foundation survey or permit assistance through our site, we forward your name, contact details, the address of the home and your explanatory notes to the relevant partner, solely in order to handle your request: Homekeur B.V. (surveys and energy labels, via their request system MijnWoning) or Luno Bouwadvies (permits and foundation surveys, by email). We do not retain these requests ourselves.
Retention periods
- Cache of external sources: days to weeks depending on the source (see sources).
- Transaction data and payment receipts: 7 years (statutory tax retention obligation).
- Your email address provided with the purchase: until 3 months after the access period has ended; thereafter only what the statutory tax retention obligation requires.
- PDF snapshots: for as long as the access period runs.
- Messages sent via the contact form: up to 1 year after your question has been dealt with.
